Tis the season for being Thankful and for Giving!
Millions of dollars will be spent on wine related gifts and most of that will be re-gifted or put in a drawer never to be seen again.
Things you should know when shopping for wine gifts:
- All Wines are not created equal! We love a bargain - We talk expensive and drink inexpensive (not cheap)
We pick most of our wine from the label. An eye-catching label or cute animal a good wine it does not make! Stay away!
Buy your wine all at one time – from a wine store you trust like The Wine Cellar Buy a case and you’ll most likely get a discount and you’ll have a couple extra bottles on hand. Most small wine stores don’t have quotas and huge stacks of wine to get rid of and usually have an owner that knows a lot about wine. They can help you find a good wine at a good bargain
Don’t go over your budget! The boss will be impressed by your creativity in finding a good wine, not necessarily expensive! If you spend too much – they may think they pay you too much!
Hot Wines for the Season…………
- Rieslings – great with the holiday fare, everybody loves Fritz Zimmer Riesling
- Garnacha – light-bodied, but FULL of flavor. Great with Turkey and Ham. Our favorite is Crucillon Garnacha – a great glass and a great bargain!
- Super Tuscan’s – the best of Tuscany and Bordeaux – what could be better! We recommend Antonio Sanguinetti Nessun Dorma – I am proud to present another bargain! Your welcome!

Chocolate/Cheese Boards – it’s a given!
- Wine and cheese and chocolate go together! A beautiful board on top of the wine bar will always be appreciated! Our favorite is by local North Carolina, Phil Capper. $15-30
Aerators – they are all the rage! Who wouldn’t want something to enhance the flavor of their wine?
- Our favorite of course is the WineWeaver! $25.99
Candlelight - remember the old Chianti bottle candleholder….
- Candelabra now a more elegant way to recycle – and even more ambience. Wrought Iron look, 5 tea lights and a recycled wine bottle! Beautiful! $14.99
